AN INTRODUCTION TO MY WORK

I make each item carefully, painstakingly, and everything you will find on this site is made by me ( except for the chains and spring-loaded clasps). I sculpt the material I am working with to bring it to life, as if it had just been born, and I try to give shape to unusual objects, full of energy.

Each prototype is made from lost-wax casting, in my workshop, in order to produce my own moulds, so you will not find an identical model under another label. My rings and bracelets are also hand-crafted. The castings are made in the Paris region by a qualified founder, then I deal with the casting and with each successive phase of production, shaping, sizing, finishing, polishing and cleaning.

My jewellery models are timeless. This long, meticulous workmanship respects the time necessary for creation, rather than the calendar of fashion and I only produce small quantities of each item. If you want a model which is no longer in stock, send me a mail so that I can make it for you.

The sculptures are unique pieces.

COSTUME JEWELLERY

l-atelier-bijou-fantaisie.jpg

My costume jewellery is made either in solid silver or in bronze, plated in 24 carat gold, hallmarked and certified by a master gilder, with a thickness of 3 microns.

- As a reminder, although the designation "gilt" ( doré à l'or fin) has a pleasant ring to it, a gilt article has a layer of gold which is between 0.2 and 0.5 microns. When an article is "gold-plated" and hallmarked, it has a 3 micron layer of gold - 6 times thicker.

-It follows that an item of jewellery which is gold-plated will last much longer, so long as you follow the care instructions: it is recommended that you remove your jewellery before bathing or practising a sport and also before you go to bed. If you choose to keep them on all the time, rather than following this advice ;-) no problem, but you will have to send them back to me from time to time, so that I can touch up the gold plating.

You will not find any bright yellow gold in my costume jewellery. The gold the master gilder and I use is a very pale , luminous gold, which I find more subtle and modern than the yellow gold often to be seen in this type of jewellery. The colour in no way indicates the percentage of gold: all my jewellery uses 24 carat gold.

As you can see, my goal is to offer items of quality which are unique and authentic. In spite of all my best efforts, however, some brown spots may appear: these are due to the percentage of copper contained in the metal and are by no means a sign of poor workmanship. Should they appear on your jewellery, I will be glad to touch up the gold plating, free of charge, but don't worry: this doesn't happen very often.

ETHICAL JEWELLERY

This range of products doesn't follow exactly the same manufacturing process as that of costume jewellery.. After the prototype, I am working directly with 18-carat solid gold, so no plating is involved.

24-carat gold cannot be used in its pure form, as it is too malleable. 18-carat gold is used for jewellery.

Some items of jewellery  - earrings and medallions- do not require sizing and are immediately available on the site. However, if you like my hoop earrings, for example, but would prefer them to be bigger, or smaller, or with a different texture from the model on offer, this can, of course, be managed and is, indeed, one of the advantages of working with a craftsman. Contact me and I'll send you a quotation.

Rings and bracelets are only made to order and to measure.

I have chosen to work with ethical gold, under the Fairmined label. This label attests to a standard and to the origin of the gold, produced by autonomous, responsible mines on a small scale, guaranteeing a legal mining activity. This label ensures that the environment is protected both during and after mining, that the miners have decent working conditions, that the mines are in no way connected to armed warfare and that men and women receive equal pay.

If you wish to know more, see the section on "Fairmined gold"

SCULPTURE

Part ephemeral, part eternal, each item is unique. Metal, gold, dried flowers, branches, bark, seeds and roots are all worked together.

Pictures, sculptures, installations, sketches: the blending of finite and infinite lends itself to all forms of expression.

Enjoy your visit :-)
